Handful — support

Photograph the ingredients in a recipe and Handful turns them into a shopping list you can tick off. If something isn't working, email support@vibeslopsoftware.com and we'll help.

What you need

  • An iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence: iPhone 15 Pro or later, iPhone Duo, or an iPad with M1 or A17 Pro or later.
  • iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 or later.
  • Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings, in a language it supports.
Handful says my iPhone or iPad isn't supported

Handful reads recipes with Apple Intelligence's on-device model, which only runs on iPhone 15 Pro and later, and on iPads with M1 or A17 Pro and later. On older devices it can't work, so it doesn't try.

Handful asks me to turn on Apple Intelligence

Go to Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri and turn on Apple Intelligence. If Handful says Apple Intelligence is still downloading, leave your iPhone or iPad on Wi-Fi and charging for a while. Handful will be ready on its own when the download finishes.

It missed an ingredient or read one wrong

Touch and hold the item to edit it in place, then press Return. To add something it missed, type it into "Add an item" at the bottom of the list.

For the best results, hold the page flat in good light and fill the frame with the ingredients list. Items with a dotted underline are ones Handful wasn't sure about, so check those first.

If Handful keeps misreading a recipe, tap the recipe's name above the list to see its photo, then tap Report a Misread. Mail opens with the photo and what Handful read, so we can make it read better. Nothing is sent unless you send it.

An item is in the wrong aisle

Touch and hold the item, tap the aisle name beside it, and choose the right one. Handful remembers, and puts it there next time. It also learns the order you tick things off, so after a few trips the list follows your route around the shop.

The Recipes filter in my photos shows nothing

The Recipes filter uses Apple's own Photos search. Photos only finishes organising your library while your iPhone is locked, charging and on Wi-Fi, so on a new iPhone, or after adding lots of photos, it can take a night or two before recipes show up. "Recent" always shows your latest photos.

Can I share my list or use it on another device?

You can send the list as text to anyone with the share button. Lists stay on the iPhone or iPad you made them on and don't sync between devices.

Does Handful cost anything?

No. Handful is free, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions, ads or limits.

What happens to my photos?

They're read on your device and never uploaded. The privacy policy has the details.

Still stuck?

In Handful, open the ••• menu, then About Handful › Report a Problem. It fills in your Handful and iOS versions. Or email support@vibeslopsoftware.com with your iPhone or iPad model, your iOS version and what happened. A screenshot helps.
